It was built in 1688 (Genrouku era) in Hamaochaya by the Matsui Family who ruled
Yatsushiro.
There is the beautiful garden with Japanese iris in June.
There is the museum of the Matsui library.

SHIROISHI
●Konose lime cave
The lime rock formation of the Kuma River basin forms many stalactite caves.
The opening of the cave is the largest in Japan, and gives a big impression when looking up.
Kumanoza Shrine is enshrined there.It is a 12 minute walk from JR Shiroishi Station.
ISSYOUCHI
●Lucky charm for victory admission ticket
After a lucky station name, we sell "lucky charm for victory admission ticket" which gives us the great purification.
●Local special product sale
Match it with a stop of SL Hitoyoshi (from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 15:30) and sell local special products such as distilled spirits of the Kuma district and yuzu yokan, useful pear sauce and Tanada rice.

●Oninokuti Tanada ,Matsutani Tanada
It takes about 20 minutes on foot leisurely to Oninokuti Tanada from Issyouchi station which was chosen as one of the 100 rice paddies in Japan.
It takes about 20 minutes on foot from Naraguchi station to Matsutani Tanada.
●Issyochi hot spring Kawasemi
It is in the mountain stream which is a branch of the Kuma River forms.
The hot-spring hotel is popular with good hot spring quality and a fresh sweetfish dish and edible wild plant dish.
Hot spring is also open to bathers only.
It is a 20-minute walk from JR Isshochi Station
KYUSENDO
●Kyusendo
It is estimated that the limestone bed that was in Kyushu's largest limestone cave was raised from the seabed about 300 million years ago. The limestone cave Kyusendo which was discovered in March of 1973 (Showa 48) has a total length of 4.8 km.
The cave continues to erode today. Cave creatures with their own ecosystem live in the
Kyusendo which is a work of art created by nature over 300 million years.

WATARI
●The second Kuma River bridge
It is a beautiful bridge connected by a steel frame composing type called the waving string Pratt trass to a pin.
It was produced with the first bridge in American Bridge Company of New York and was completed in 1908.
The Kuma River wooden boat rapids course can be seen below. It is fun to see SL Hitoyoshi across from here at the land bridge in the slightly remote place.
HITOYOSHI
●Hitoyoshi Railway Museum MOZOCA Station 868
Tourist facilities introducing the history and charm of Hisatsu line. In addition to a mini train leading from Hitoyoshi station to the museum, there are many areas for children, including wooden ball pool, miniature toy trains and bikes on a track.

●National treasure Aoi Aso Shrine
The national treasure shrine structure in Kuma Basin is characteristic in the main shrine and the tower gate of the Momoyama style.
An ogre side is enshrined near a rafter of the tower gate.

●Hitoyoshi Castle ruins
A base of Sagara Family.
There is the stone wall with "Hanedashi" (protecting stones of samurai residences) for the fire prevention.
Tamon Yagura (the reconstruction) and Kuo of the main enclosure are the highlights,too.

●Kajiya machi Street
In the Hitoyoshi feudal clan era, there were 66 blacksmiths linked by eaves.
There are still two blacksmiths even now.
We watch production of Miso and Soy sauce Storehouse. We can taste tea at Cha storehouse.

●Eikoku Temple
The old historic temple is known as "the hanging scroll of the ghost."
It was the place of the leader of the Saigo forces in the Southwestern Rebellion.
There is the honoring monument of Masanori Ichii who was the father of modern dentistry.
●Miso and soy sauce storehouse
Kamata brewery is one of the visiting storehouses, where we can observe the production and manufacture of miso and soy sauce and enjoy sampling.
●Hitoyoshi hot-spring village
Hot water of Hitoyoshi is smooth for skin.
There are a lot of bathhouses where we can experience high quality hot water said to make women beautiful. We can enjoy visiting spas.
OKOBA
●Hitoyoshi plum garden
(From the end of February to the beginning of March)
The very large plum garden where we can access from Okoba Station in 1-2 minutes on foot.
It is the famous spot of cherry trees and, not to mention the season of the plum, is full of many weekenders with the coming of spring.
YOSHIMATSU
●Sightseeing SL Hall
The train like stand which leaves the station is on the left immediately.
A special product of Yoshimatsu includes spring pudding which is made by local youth uses a fresh eggs. We can see many souvenirs.

KURINO
●Maruike spring
It is a 5 minute walk from behind Kurino station.
The quantity of the water springing out is one of 100 selections of Japanese famous clear water with rich water. The beauty is kept by the local people.
The outskirts are maintained as a park and we can see the culvert which is Hisatsu Line inheritance.

●Kagoshima shrine
The sacrificial dance of the horse is famous during Hatuumasai to be held in February every year.
The faith articles such as the Taiguruma or the Kesyobako are recommended as a souvenir.
