●Origin of the train name…The Hitoyoshi – Yoshimatsu interval of Hisatsu Line is a difficult place which links northern Kumamoto to Kagoshima and Miyazaki.
The difficult construction that used the best of the railway technology was carried out with national dignity in the Meiji era.
The tourist train is named “Isaburou Shinpeigou” and we can know the history and the pride of the railroad heads. It comes from the communication minister, Isaburo Yamagata and President Shinpei Goto who were the construction people in charge at that time.
As for the 8620 type steam locomotive (58654), it is produced Hitachi, Ltd. Kasado factories in 1922 (Taisho 11).
It is mass-produced as a purely domestic passenger locomotive early in the Taisho era and the Showa era and has a nick name Hachiroku who played an active part in Japan.
58654 shines in the glory of an Imperial train made in the native Kyushu at the Moji Railway Bureau.
Although it is small, one leading wheel guides three driving wheels of large 1.6m in diameter size. That is express train.
We know how to drive a steam locomotive made in a foreign country imported in large quantities during the Meiji period and the proof of the Japanese technique that grew up before. At last, they can make a domestic large size locomotive while they manage the maintenance.
The locomotive of the old form before it is called C57, D51 runs through it as a regular service.
